The Congress, on Sunday, condemned Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao for threatening to go on a hunger strike over the issue of the Krishna Tribunal.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party, Congress MLA K Lakshma Reddy described KCR's threat as a political drama being enacted to get mileage in the by-elections. He alleged that the TRS president was trying to mislead the people of the region by stating that injustice was being done to the region by the Krishna Tribunal.
He said that the Supreme Court was yet to give its final judgment on the Krishna Tribunal, and that if KCR has any genuine suggestions, then he must convey them instead of politicising the issue.
Lakshma Reddy said that the ruling party was ready to convene an all-party meeting on the issue. He appealed to KCR not to provike the sentiments of people in the Telangana region over the subject.
The Congress MLA also condemned reports which said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was against Telangana. He said that the CM had never spoken against or in favour of a separate Telangana.
He said the CM was in favour of equal development of all regions in the state, and added that the signing of the MoU on the Pranahita-Chevella with the Maharashtra government proves his commitment for the region. (INN)
