After the two-year-long dispute between Andhra and Telangana regions over the sharing of the Krishna river waters, the Krishna River Management Board today decided to finalize the allocation of the river waters to the two Telugu States on August 27.
The board held a meeting today and heard the appeals of the representatives of the two Telugu states. Telangana sought around 39 TMC of water while Andhra Pradesh sought 47 TMC.
The board will divide the river waters between the States after measuring the flux in and out of the small irrigation projects constructed at several points of the river's path. The water allocation will be based on the surplus or shortage of water in the States.
The three-member committee will also submit a report to the two governments by September 15, after its detailed study.
