Telangana Freedom Fighters Association president Konda Laxman Bapuji, on Wednesday, questioned the Telugu Desam party's and Y S R Congress Party's commitment to the farmers' issues in the Telangana region.
The veteran freedom fighter, at Prakasam Hall in Gandhi Bhavan, said that both the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy were taking up the padayatra and deeksha to solicit votes in the up-coming elections.
He stated that both Naidu and Jagan have no real commitment to relieve the distressed farmers, and that they have been observing deekshas to ensure the survival of their political parties in the region.
"The deekshas and padayatras launched in the name of the farmers' cause will precipitate matters further and provoke the people," he stated.
Accusing political parties of a lack of commitment and political will in resolving the statehood issue, he said that the issue would have been resolved long ago if the parties had handled the issue properly.
Further, he added that at least now, the parties should make their stance clear, and aim to find a favourable solution to the Telangana issue. (INN)
