Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today met the party's national president Sonia Gandhi in the national capital.
According to reliable sources, at the meeting, the MP urged Gandhi to appoint him as the next president, stating that he had been working for the party since his days as a student.
Citing the appointment of MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar as the Telangana BJP chief, Reddy reportedly assured her that his position as MP would not be an obstacle to the appointment.
It is being said that he also advised the party president not to appoint any leaders who had joined the Congress after defecting from other parties to the post, claiming such leaders were were not reliable and could switch loyalties at any time.
When asked by the media what the purpose of his Delhi visit was, the MP claimed that he had come just to attend a meeting of the party.
The meeting is significant as Reddy is competing for the post of the next TPCC president, and has already openly urged the party high command to appoint him to it.
