Telangana Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today claimed that he was sure to become the next president of the TPCC, claiming he had all the qualities and qualifications required for the post.
He also added that he had played a very important role in the Telangana movement.
Reddy claimed that he would bring the Congress back to power by holding padayatras like former Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
He said that he was "fully confident" that the party's high command would appoint him the next TPCC chief, and that an announcement confirming the decision would be made within the next couple of days.
However, he also clarified that whatever decision the high command took would be binding, and added that he would never join the BJP even if he was not made the head of the TPCC.
"I am loyal to the Congress. I am also not in the habit of jumping from one party to another," he added.
Targeting the ruling TRS' leaders, he said that though they had made claims of infighting within the Congress, it was Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who had split the TRS into groups, and was fighting his relative MP J Santosh Kumar as the latter also harboured ambitions of becoming the CM.
