Former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Friday reiterated that he would continue his hunger fast until the Centre announces a roadmap for the formation of a separate Telangana state.
Talking to media persons, Komatireddy, whose hunger fast for the cause of separate statehood at Clowk Tower in Nalgonda entered its 4th day, stated that the cabinet post was not important for him.
He said that he was ready to sacrifice his life for the cause of a separate Telangana state. "I want to fulfil the aspirations of the people in the region. Except statehood, the Telangana people are not asking for anything," he stated.
Stating that he has been observing the fast as an ordinary Congress worker, Komatireddy said, "It is the responsibility of senior Congress leaders to inform Congress president Sonia Gandhi of my hunger fast."
Speaking at the hunger strike camp, MP Komatireddy Rajagopal stated that Telangana will be achieved this time with the agitations. He slammed Seemandhra leaders for claiming that the state capital was developed only by them.
Former minister Jupally Krishna Rao, who recently joined the TRS, visited Komatireddy and expressed solidarity with his agitation. He said that the Telangana state can be achieved through the resignation of ministers, MPs and MLAs to their posts and mounting pressure on the Centre.
Meanwhile, the doctors treating Komatireddy said that his condition has deteriorated due to a fall in his blood pressure and sugar levels. They said that Komatireddy was suffering from fever, cough and infection.
Komatireddy has refusing to take treatment.
Meanwhile, veteran freedom fighter Konda Lakshman Bapuji's week-long hunger fast at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, which began on November 1, entered its 4th day on Friday. (INN)
