Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram on Friday raised suspicions on the police version of the death of top Maoist leader M Koteswara Rao alias Kishanji, who was reportedly killed in an encounter with the police in West Midnapur in West Bengal on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Kodandaram demanded that an independent probe be ordered into the encounter to ascertain the veracity of the police's claims.
He also appealed to the government to take steps to shifting Kishanji's body to his native place.
Regarding the Telangana issue, Kodandaram said that the TP-JAC would intensify the statehood agitation, and that a meeting would be convened on 27 November to discuss the future course of action.
He also warned that the agitation would get more serious from 1 December.
Kodandaram also reiterated his demand that the state Legislative Assembly pass a resolution for the formation of a Telangana state during the winter session that starts from 1 December. (INN)
