All-India Kisan Congress Vice President M Kodanda Reddy and Telangana Kisan Congress Chairman Anvesh Reddy on Thursday said that the farmers in the State were suffering a lot due to shortage of urea fertilizer.
Stating that the State was in need of 8 lakh metric tons of urea, they alleged that both governments had failed to make arrangements to procure adequate urea in time, and that as a result farmers were being forced to stand in serpentine queues to procure urea bags.
They alleged that the State and Central governments were playing with the lives of the farmers in the State with their "callous" attitude, and demanded that both the governments reveal the reasons for their respective failures to supply urea to the farmers.
They warned the State government that the crop production of farmers would come down if urea was not supplied on time.
