While launching projects worth Rs. 100 crores in Khammam, Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao today slammed the State Congress for its "Palle Nidra" campaign (launched by TPCC Vice-President Mallu Ravi to sort out rural issues).
Addressing a public meeting today after participating in the launch of developmental works along with Roads & Buildings Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao and others, KTR alleged that "Palle Nidra" was yet another enactment and was as hollow as several other of the Congress' gimmicks. The Minister quite bluntly said that those who failed to join the Statehood Movement were today speaking of the new State's development.
The State government was taking up welfare schemes including Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, pensions scheme and others, even though some of the schemes were not mentioned in the TRS manifesto, he claimed.
He also said that the State government was making efforts to complete irrigation projects on time in order to irrigate one crore acres of land in the State.
"This promise will be fulfilled despite hurdles being thrown in our way by the Opposition," he said.
The IT minister said that even five years would not suffice to cleanse the stink and miserable situation which was left behind by the successive governments for 65 years.
The Congress was determined to stall all developmental works in the State, he said, adding that the Party had adopted a one-point strategy of witch-hunting the government on every issue and non-issue.
MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, MLAs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Balasani Lakshminarayana, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, B Madan Lal and others were present.
