The Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party has decided to stall the proceedings of Parliament on its first day of the ensuing session, in protest against the supply of gas to Ratnagiri power plant in Maharashtra, which, the party says, would affect Andhra Pradesh.
The decision was taken during the TDLP meeting held at NTR Trust Bhavan on Sunday under the chairmanship of party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
The party passed a resolution to grill the government on gas allotment to other states from the K G Basin even as AP suffers a power crisis.
The TDLP has decided to lead a delegation of party MPs to New Delhi to present memorandums to union Petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy and the in-charge union Power minister Verappa Moily, on gas allotments to Maharashtra from the KG Basin.
In addition, the TD Parliamentary Party decided to refrain from participating in the vice president's election.
It may be mentioned here that the TDP had also refrained from participating in the presidential elections held recently.
The TDPP has also demanded that the government install a statue of TDP founder N T Rama Rao at Parliament Bhavan.
TDPP leader Nama Nageshwar Rao, Rajya Sabha MP T Devendar Goud and other leaders participated in the meeting as well. (INN)
