The rain gods appear to have bailed out Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao from a tricky situation.
KCR's proposed visit to Huzurnagar was cancelled in view of the adverse weather conditions and heavy rain in Huzurnagar accompanied by lightning and storms.
A public meeting was scheduled to be addressed by KCR on October 18, in connection with the by-election for the Huzurnagar Assembly seat. In view of the aviation department not giving clearance to the helicopter which the Chief Minister is supposed to use for leaving for Huzurnagar, the scheduled meeting stands cancelled.
The Director of Aviation, V N Bharat Reddy, said that the weather was bad at Huzurnagar because of a cloud burst, squally weather, and strong wind build-up enroute Hyderabad to Huzurnagar. All these conditions had result in reduced flight visibility, low clouds, thunder, lightning, strong vertical currents, heavy rain conditions and strong gusty winds which were detrimental to flight safety.
"In view of the safety of the Chief Minister and the other passengers on board the helicopter, my sincere request to the Chief Minister is to call off the programme," Reddy said.
KCR was expected to face strong protests at Huzurnagar due to the ongoing TSRTC strike.
