Hyderabad | 30th July 2015
Expressing concern over the delay in the development of villages despite spending thousands of crores of rupees, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today exhorted the people to participate in the Grama Jyothi program actively.

Addressing a video conference of the district Collectors, Superintendents of Police and other district officials at the Marri Channa Reddy Human Resources Development Center, KCR stressed on the need for rejuvenating the dalit localities and girijan hamlets through the active involvement of people who implement their own plans of development for five years funded by the government.

He recalled that S K Dey, the first Union minister for community development, had tried to expand the Panchayat Raj system in Hyderabad.

"Singapore, which once lacked drinking water, is now dictating terms to the world. Gangadevapally in Warangal and Ankapally in Nizamabad are noted for the development of the Panchayat Raj. Mulkanur in Karimnagar has achieved development in the cooperative sector. We need to get inspired by them and chalk out a plan for the next five years," he said.

The Chief Minister also said that a "Pattana Jyothi" program on the lines of Grama Jyothi would be conducted with the active involvement of the leaders and officers.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Cabinet sub-committee chairman for Grama Jyothi K T Rama Rao, Finance Minister Etela Rajender, T Harish Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy, Jogu Ramanna, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Niranjan Reddy and others were present.
