Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today directed the Finance Secretary to release an additional Rs 100 crores for speedy completion of the Dindi Lift Irrigation Project.
The Dindi project is aimed at distributing waters to fluoride-hit Devarakonda and Munugodu in the Nalgonda district, as well as the Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts. Upon completion, the project will distribute irrigation waters for 3.5 lakh acres in the Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts.
At a review meeting with officials at his Camp Office, the Chief Minister asked the Finance Department officials to release immediately, another Rs 100 crores on top of the Rs 75 crores already released for the prestigious project.
The officials should prepare an action plan for the project with a design for distributing drinking water to Hyderabad and also a 6-kilometre-long underground tunnel, he said.
KCR further directed the officials to ensure lower submergence and avoidance of loss to villages coming under the project.
The Chief Minister also ordered that the land acquisition process commence immediately for the construction of reservoirs in Singarajupally, Gottimukkala, Krishnarampally and Sivannagudem in the Nalgonda district, and Arkapally in the Mahbubnagar district.
He asked the officials to give suitable compensation to the people affected by the project, taking into account the land and asset values.
Each family should be paid Rs 5.04 lakh for the construction of a house, and related registration should be done without delay, he directed. The irrigation officials should submit estimates to the Revenue Department to take further steps, he said.
