Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday condemned the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam, and said that it was nothing more than diverting the people's attention from "the Adani-Modi nexus".
His son and minister K T Rama Rao lambasted the union government for its "witch-hunting" of the opposition parties through investigating agencies, and asserted that they were not afraid of these threats.
He also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi prove his sincerity by also conducting a probe into the "stock market manipulation and fraud" by the Adani group.
Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday and was named as accused number one in the agency's chargesheet.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party workers and supporters took to the streets in Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Bhopal and several other cities across the country to protest against Sisodia's arrest.
