KCR Showers Sops On Anganwadi Employees, Too

The CM said that the salaries of the Anganvadi employees would be increased by up to Rs 10,500, and those of the assisting staff, by Rs 6,000.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced several sops for Anganwadi workers on Monday.

At a meeting with Anganwadi employees at Pragathi Bhavan today, he said that the salaries of the Anganvadi employees would be increased by up to Rs 10,500, and those of the assisting staff, by Rs 6,000.

He also assured them that their salaries would be increased further next year.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to give promotions to Anganwadi employees with higher educational qualifications. He also promised that Anganwadi activists who had no houses of their own would be provided houses.

Steps would also be taken to stop the harassment of Anganwadi employees by higher officials, he assured.

The Chief Minister also discussed with them measures to strengthen the Anganwadi centres.

Directing the Anganwadi employees to feed the children adequately and not on the basis of grams as was done in the past, the Chief Minister said there should be no compromise with regard to the children's health.

He asked the Anganwadis to provide quality food to pregnant women, too, and also asked them to take steps to see that child deliveries were done in the government hospitals. He also directed the Anganwadi employees to strive to reduce child deaths.

The Chief Minister also stated that his government was contemplating paying Rs 12,000 to pregnant women in three phases, and Rs 13,000 the parents of girl children.

Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Women and Child Welfare Secretary Jagdeesh, Director Indira, CM's Addl Principal Secretary Shanthi Kumari, Secretary Smita Sabharwal, and Anganwadi teachers from different parts of the State participated.
