Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today launched Toli Mudda, a breakfast scheme for children at Anganwadi centres across the State, on the Assembly premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that food security alone was not enough and that the Telangana government accorded top priority to providing nutritious food to children.
Reddy said that the lack of nutritious food was a major concern and that health ailments among children were a serious issue. He added that mental development among children under the age of six was crucial for their overall growth. To address this, nutritious food was already being provided to mothers from the time of conception at Anganwadi centres, and the government had launched the breakfast scheme to improve children's health from an early age, he said.
The Chief Minister assured the gathering that the government would address all pending issues of the Anganwadi staff, and appealed to them to implement the breakfast scheme in true spirit. He urged the staff to care for children as they would for their own family members.
Reddy also instructed authorities to formulate plans for constructing permanent buildings for Anganwadi centres and stop operating them from private buildings.
