The tenth session of Telangana Legislative Council was held on Thursday in the refurbished Telangana Legislative Council hall.
Caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao attended the session. Deputy Chief Ministers Mahmood Ali and Kadiam Srihari, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and Legislature Secretary V Narasimha Charyulu were among those who welcomed the caretaker Chief Minister.
KCR spent some time in his newly renovated chamber, and with the ministers and MLCs. He later attended the Council session.
The Council paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, former Speaker of the Lok Sabha Somnath Chatterjee and former MLC and mimicry great Nerella Venumadhav in the session. It also recorded its deep sense of sorrow at the loss of lives in the recent Kondagattu bus accident and the deaths that resulted in Kerala as a result of the massive floods in the state recently.
KCR led the House in paying tributes. On Vajpayee's services to the nation, the caretaker Chief Minister said that Vajpayee's stature transcended politics. "He was part of India's soul and will remain so," KCR said. As a tribute to the former PM, the state government had approved the creation of a memorial for him and the installation of his statue in a one-acre plot, he added.
After paying tributes, the Council was adjourned sine die by its chairman K Swamy Goud.
Earlier the CM spent some time in the chambers of the Assembly.
