KCR Announces War Against BJP, Congress At Plenary

The Telangana CM vowed to launch another movement resembling the separate Telangana movement by creating a federal front to change Indian politics.
Hyderabad | 27th April 2018
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao vowed to launch another movement resembling the separate Telangana movement to bring a qualitative change in Indian politics by "freeing the country from the stranglehold of the BJP and Congress regimes".

KCR made this declaration on Friday at the 17th TRS plenary after a resolution was passed urging him to get into national politics by forging a federal front of all like-minded state parties against the BJP and Congress.

The resolution moved by the TRS national General Secretary K Keshava Rao and seconded by Vinod Kumar, MP, also authorized KCR to take all steps that are needed in this regard.

The Chief Minister in an emotionally-charged tone recalled the 14-year struggle the TRS had launched to achieve a separate Telangana state, after the region was completely neglected by both Congress and BJP regimes that had ruled the country until then.

Claiming that an array of developmental and welfare schemes by the TRS government in the past four years had led to the state becoming number one in many areas, KCR lamented that the rest of the country was however lagging in many aspects. An important reason for that was that there had been no coordination and cooperation between the states and the Centre due to unilateral decisions by the latter, he said.

The CM lambasted the union government for treating the states "like municipalities". Unless the states had financial independence, they would not be able to march forward in development, he said. Why should subjects like agriculture, education, health, rural development etc be with the central government, he asked, and reeled out numerous facts and figures to explain how and why India was lagging behind in many aspects than many other nations.

The Centre was responsible for the pathetic conditions of and suicides by farmers, water shortages and water wars, poor infrastructure and more, KCR alleged.

KCR said that since the TRS had succeeded in taking the state onto the path of "Bangaru Telangana" and had emerged a strong political force, the party had the capability to make its foray into national politics. He said that there was a need for the country to be freed from the clutches of the BJP and the Congress, and for that it was imperative to form a federal front by forging unity among all the regional political parties. He had already initiated discussions with various leaders like Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, and Deve Gowda of Karnataka, and would shortly be meeting M K Stalin of the DMK and Akhilesh Yadav of the SP, he said.

The TRS boss claimed that his announcement of forging a federal front had already created tremors in the BJP and the Congress, and declared that his proposed movement against the two national parties would commence before the upcoming 2019 elections.
