Kavitha Felicitates CWG Gold Medalist Nikhat Zareen

TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha felicitated Commonwealth Games gold medal winner in boxing Nikhat Zareen at her (Kavitha's) residence in the city today.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said that it was a proud moment for the country as well as Telangana when Zareen first turned a world champion and then the CWG winner, and that her achievements would remain an inspiration to budding athletes.

Through her achievements, Zareen had also put her native place Nizamabad on the map, Kavitha said.

Zareen reminded Kavitha of the State government's financial assistance of Rs 50 lakhs sanctioned by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in 2014 when she was still a budding boxer, and said that that had gone a long way in taking her to where she was today.

She also thanked the CM for sanctioning a plot and a reward of Rs 2 crore for her.
