Cotton farmers in Karimnagar today conducted a rasta roko on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway and gheraoed the collectorate office, demanding that the promised cotton seeds be distributed to them.
With the monsoons having set in, cotton farmers seek the seeds promised to them by the government.
When the police cleared them from the national highway for causing traffic problems, the frustrated farmers gheraoed the collectorate office and refused to move from there unless the seeds were disseminated among them.
Bowing down to their firmness, the local authorities concerned announced that the seeds stocked with the local traders would be distributed among them at the earliest.
The police relayed this message to the farmers gathered, and convinced them to disperse from the collectorate.
