Implementation of the new master plan for the Kamareddy municipality has been suspended by the State government.
The Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration & Urban Development department made an announcement to that effect.
The Principal Secretary held a review meeting with the Kamareddy district Collector and additional Collector on the issue at the Kamareddy collecterate, and discussed the claims and objections received from the affected farmers and the public regarding the master plan.
Speaking on the issue after the meeting, he said that the government would take views of the residents of the merged villages of the Kamareddy municipality in order to prepare the master plan, and that the process would be under suspension until the process was completed.
For the uninitiated, hundreds of farmers of the affected villages of the master plan have been holding protests demanding that the State government halt the process of the enforcement of the master plan in the municipality.
A farmer even lost his life while holding a protest demanding that the State government withdraw its decision to implement the master plan.
