Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bandaru Dattatreya, along with Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K Narayana, Communist Party of India (Marxist) Secretary B V Raghavulu, and Lok Satta Party's (LSP) Murali, on Thursday, urged Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to release Rs. 10 lakhs each for the families of the 2 protestors who died in the
police-firing in Kakarapalli on February 28th.
The leaders called on the Chief Minister at his chambers at the state Secretariat and submitted a memorandum in this regard. Kiran Kumar Reddy assured them that he will look into the matter.
They all condemned the police firing on the innocent protestors, and also demanded that the police forces deployed in Kakarapalli mandal be withdrawn, and the protestors who were arrested be released.
The leaders also sought an assurance from the government that the injured protestors be provided medical aid. They also held the government responsible for the incident.
