Lok Ayukta Justice Subhashan Reddy Sworn In
Meanwhile, the Lok Satta Party has questioned his appointment, stating that as per law, a person who served in the Human Rights Commission cannot be appointed as the Lok Ayukta.
Justice B Subhashan Reddy, on Friday, was sworn in as the Lok Ayukta of Andhra Pradesh.
Governor E S L Narasimhan administered the oath of office to Justice Subhashan Reddy at a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Subhashan Reddy will serve in the post for a period of five years from now.
Justice Reddy, earlier, served as the chief justice of Madras and Kerala High Courts, and was also the chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission.
It may be mentioned here that Justice Reddy's nomination was rejected by the governor. However, the state government sent him the file again for his approval, following which he was finally appointed as the state's Lokayukta on October 10.
