JLC Can Probe TDP Tenure: TDP MLAs
TDP MLAs Raghunath Reddy & Linga Reddy said that they don't have objection to a Joint Legislature Committee probe into the land allotment made during the TDP tenure.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs Palle Raghunath Reddy and Linga Reddy on Saturday stated that they have no objections to a Joint Legislature Committee probe into the land allotments to business houses in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) from 1994 to 2004, the period when Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minister.
The MLAs said that according to educated estimates, the present market value of these lands is around Rs. 9 lakh crores.
The TDP MLAs alleged that the former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had made around Rs. 2 lakh crores as kickbacks from the business houses when he allotted the lands to them.
They further stated that if the Rs. 9 lakh crores amount is realized, each Assembly constituency can use Rs. 3,000 crores (approximately) for its development.
The MLAs said that the TDP was not afraid of the probe covering the land allotments during the period when TDP was the ruling party, and maintained that no irregular deals had taken place during its rule. They said that the JLC probe into that period will not yield any results.
Linga Reddy demanded that the government include the Wakf lands in the ambit of the JLC probe.
