Kesava Rao justified the wrath of MLAs' in the recent Assembly incidents but condemned their physical attack on Governor Narasimhan and LSP chief Narayan.
Senior leader and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member K Kesava Rao on Sunday chose to tread a thin line by trying to justify the opposition to Governor E S L Narasimhan's address and the subsequent attack on Lok Satta Party (LSP) President Jayaprakash Narayan by saying that what happened was 'good' but the physical attack was condemnable.
Speaking to mediapersons at his residence at Banjara Hills, Kesava Rao said that the absence of any mention of Telangana, its problems or its people's aspirations in the Governor's address to the joint sitting of the legislature, were enough to rouse the ire of the legislators from the region. "It was but natural that they attempted to stop Narasimhan from going ahead with his address," he justified.
The CWC member said that the absence of any mention of Telangana in the Governor's address had hurt him, too, and that he could imagine the mental state of all the legislators who were present inside the Assembly hall at that time.
Accusing the LSP chief of using 'inflammatory' words during his interaction with mediapersons later on Thursday, the senior Congress leader said that the MLAs' objection to his words was understandable. However, he condemned the physical attack on Dr. Narayan.
Kesava Rao further accused Dr. Narayan of speaking out of turn and using inappropriate words, and urged the former IAS officer to think before speaking in future.
"Dr. Narayan said that the Assembly session will continue even if Telangana MLAs boycott it. These words were not proper." he added.
