Lok Satta national president and Kukatpally MLA Dr. Jayprakash Narayan, on Thursday, expressed regret that the present Legislative Assembly had failed to discuss the issues of public importance during its sittings.
Speaking to media personnel at Assembly's media point, Dr. JP said that the Assembly has not taken up important issues for debate in the last four-and-a-half years. He also said that serious introspection should be done on why the legislature has failed to conduct discussions on public issues.
With regard to the incidents of violence in the Lok Sabha during the tabling of the Telangana Bill, he demanded that the guilty MPs should be punished severely.
He also blamed the Congress government for the present situation and said that the sensitive issues should not be dragged and an early solution to the Telangana tangle could have avoided such incidents. However, he said, the Congress was dealing with the Telangana issue keeping vote-bank politics in mind. (INN)
