Congress leaders described Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's public meeting in Warangal on Tuesday as an utter flop.
Speaking to the media, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Wednesday asked the Chief Minister what he had done for the Warangal town when the people there had elected Kadiam Srihari by a huge majority in the last general elections.
They said that KCR had done nothing himself but went on criticizing the Congress at Tuesday's meeting.
Alleging that the crisis in agriculture in the State was only because of the KCR government, they asked the State and Central governments why they were quarrelling with each other over procurement and prices rather than helping the distressed farmers.
They also faulted the TRS leaders for claiming responsibility for the creation of Telangana. They asserted that the creation of a separate Telangana state was possible only with the resignations of Congress MPs and ministers.
While the Congress leaders's efforts and sacrifices had brought about Telangana, TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao was falsely claiming credit for the achievement, they said.
Congress Legislature Party leader in the Assembly K Jana Reddy said that the remarks made by KCR against him on Tuesday were all lies. It was not proper for KCR to say that he (Reddy) had floated the Telangana Forum for the sake of a minister post.
"We convinced AICC chief Sonia Gandhi on the Telangana issue and brought about separate Telangana State," he added.
