Leader of the Opposition in the A P Assembly and YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy made a caustic attack on the TDP government's maiden budget, calling it "disappointing".
Earlier, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu had presented a Rs 1,11,824-crore budget for the financial year 2014-15 in the Assembly.
Slamming the TDP government's maiden budget, the YSRCP said that it had let down the people's dreams.
It had failed everybody's expectations, and all the sections of people were deeply disappointed, the Opposition Party lamented, and that it left all those hoping for relief in the lurch.
After the bifurcation, Chandrababu Naidu had consistently assured the people that waiver of all agricultural and DWCRA loans would be done immediately. But the issue was left untouched in the budget, Jagan said.
"The budget has made no attempt to pull the farmers and DWCRA women out of the morass," Jagan alleged.
He also said there was nothing new in the budget, and that the housing sector had been completely ignored by the TDP government.
During YSR's rule, the housing sector had got Rs 7,000 crores to Rs. 8,000 crores every year. This time only Rs 800 crores had been allocated, he said.
The budget had also failed to mention about the new capital and the allocation for it, Jagan added.
Pointing out that the non-plan expenditure was 3 times over the plan expenditure, and that the capital expenditure too had come down, Jagan said that the GDP would be affected because of that. (INN)
