YSR Congress Party president and Leader Of Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today dared Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to get the five MLAs who defected to the TDP from the YSRCP to resign, and conduct by-elections in those constituencies, also considering those by-elections as a referendum.
Reddy fired several salvos at Naidu at a press conference. It was not a noble act to buy the MLAs from the Opposition, he snarkily remarked. If Naidu had the guts and courage, he should ensure immediate by-polls to the constituencies represented by the MLAs who had switched over to the TDP, he said. He also said that uprooting a political party was not in the hands of "peda babu" and "china babu", but in the people's hands.
Jagan wondered why and for what reason Naidu was encouraging defections. He also alleged that there was large-scale corruption in every scheme and work taken up by the government. The people were fed up with this corrupt government, and Naidu had lost the faith of people as he had failed to fulfill even a single poll promise he had made, Jagan claimed.
Jagan also objected to the action of some television channels in misleading and creating confusion in the YSRCP party cadre by telecasting false and unauthentic scrolls, and asked the channels to be impartial.
