Dharmana Appears Before CBI Court

Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Prasada Rao on Monday attended the CBI court in relation to Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's disproportionate assets case.

Dharmana's continuance in the ministry has come under severe criticism from many quarters, including a minister. Though he resigned immediately after being named in the case, it was not accepted. Earlier, the cabinet had even taken a decision not prosecute him.

The cabinet decision was returned by Governor E S L Narasimhan for reconsideration, but still the minister continued to be part of the cabinet, and had been attending to official work.

CBI contended it did not need any permission to book the minister, and quoted a Supreme Court ruling. Hence, the minister has been doing the rounds of courts again.(INN)
