Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy today conveyed profound dismay and heartfelt condolences over the tragic demise of Geetanjali, a resident of Tenali.
He instructed government authorities to promptly extend an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 20 lakh and provide comprehensive assistance to Geetanjali's bereaved family.
The Chief Minister also asserted that his government was unequivocal about safeguarding the honour and dignity of individuals, particularly women, and reiterated that those who transgressed the boundaries of respect and decency would face the full force of the law.
Geetanjali's family has gone on record to say that she had committed suicide following harassment/trolling/abuse and body shaming on the social media by members of the opposition parties following her endorsement of Jagan's "good governance and welfare schemes".
