BJP national president J P Nadda today slammed the arrest of state party chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
In an interview to a news agency, he termed the arrest undemocratic, and tantamount to the murder of democracy.
He claimed that Bandi had been holding his protest at the latter's office by following all Covid norms, but that the police, on the orders of CM K Chandrashekar Rao, still barged into Sanjay's office, and attacked the MP and other party leaders.
He said that the arrest of Sanjay was the beginning of the end of KCR's rule in Telangana. The BJP would take all legal and democratic steps to fight the illegal arrest of the MP, and would also continue its agitation on the issue of the controversial GO No. 317 until it was scrapped, he claimed.
Other BJP leaders including D K Aruna and Eatala Rajender also castigated the KCR government for the arrest.
