The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a dominant force in Kerala, decided to join the Congress-led grand alliance against the incumbent TRS in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.
IUML party general secretary Abdul Ghani announced that his party was extending unconditional support to the grand alliance, and would play an active role in the election campaigning.
Training his guns against the Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Ghani alleged that the TRS president had failed to fulfil any of the promises he made to the Muslims in the state. Most importantly, KCR had gone back on the promise of 12% reservations to the Muslims in the state, he said.
He claimed that the TRS, the MIM and the BJP had struck a secret pact to defeat the grand alliance in Telangana in the upcoming elections, and said that the IUML's goal would be to defeat the TRS.
