The death of a 28-year-old beautician Vijayalakshmi alias Sirisha in a photo studio at Filmnagar is shrouded in mystery with the theory for the tragedy taking various twists and turns.
The beautician working in R J Photo Studio in Filmnagar is a resident of Krishna Nagar and was living with her husband Satish Chandra, a cook working in a school at Begumpet, and their daughter. Apart from working as a beautician, she had been acting as H R Manager for the studio. On Monday at around 8:30 pm she was stated to have called up her husband and informed him that she would be late in coming home.
Though she did not return home even by the morning on Tuesday, her husband, after waiting for some time, left for work. Later he received a phone call from the Banjara Hills police station asking him to come to the photo studio where his wife was working. Upon reaching the studio, Satish Chandra saw his wife Sirisha lying dead on a bed. The police were stated to have been informed by the studio owner Rajeev that Sirisha had committed suicide.
During the course of interrogation, the studio owner reportedly told the police that he had noticed Sirisha hanging from the ceiling fan at around 2:30 am. He also reportedly informed the police that he had cut the chunni which the beautician had used to take her life and put her on the bed.
However, the police found discrepancies in his statements as he once said that the beautician had committed suicide in the bathroom and at another time that she was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
Also, Satish Chandra disputed the theory about his wife committing suicide and suspected something fishy about her death. Based on the complaint by him, the police registered a case of suspicious death.
Meanwhile, in a seemingly unrelated development that occurred in Siddipet district on Wednesday morning, a Sub-Inspector Prabhakar Reddy, attached to the Kukunoorpally Police Station, reportedly committed suicide in his quarters by shooting himself with his service revolver.
The SI's death created a sensation in the district because his predecessor Ramakrishna Reddy, too, reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver nearly a year back. Relatives of Prabhakar Reddy alleged that he was forced to commit suicide due to harassment by his senior officers. This forced the SP to order a probe by the DSP into the entire episode.
However, in a sudden twist and unexpected turn of events, the police seemed to have found a link between the suicide by Sub-Inspector Prabhakar Reddy in Kukunoorpally Police Station quarters and the death of beautician Sirisha in a photo studio at Filmnagar.
The theory seems to have emerged after the police arrested the studio owner's friend Shravan in connection with the beautician's death.
It is suspected that Prabhakar Reddy molested the beautician, who then returned to the city and committed suicide on Tuesday. When the news about her death came to light, Prabhakar Reddy appeared to have panicked and committed suicide with his service revolver.
How the beautician had come into contact with Prabhakar Reddy and where the alleged molestation took place will be known only upon the completion of investigations into the deaths of the beautician and the SI.
