Delhi Daredevils all-rounder Irfan Pathan, on Wednesday, stressed the need for girls getting educated, and assured full support towards the cause of the girl child.
"Education is very important for all children, especially girls. If they (girls) are given education, all other things will follow," Pathan said after an interacton of the Delhi Daredevils team members with adolescent girls of the "Children Home For Girls", as a part of an event under the "Dare To Care" association with UNICEF.
The way the girls have shared their stories clearly shows how confident they are, Pathan said.
"Girls here are confident despite their own stories of struggle", he added.
"We will do whatever we can as a team or individuals, in helping the girl child. I have, myself, been supporting initiatives for the cause of girls," he said, about the Daredevils' partnership to support and protect adolescent girls in the country.
Delhi Daredevils head coach Eric Simmons, who, along with another player Venugopal Rao, also attended the event, said it was a humble experience to be there.
"Their (girls') stories on how they were brought here, and their dreams and aspirations now, after getting educated, are inspirational. Teachers here have done an incredible job, and a lot of credit must go to them", he said. (INN)
