Implement Urdu In Household Survey: Shabbir Ali
The deputy CLP leader in the Telangana Council demanded that the government ensure provision of the forms and other material of the Aug 19 survey in Urdu.
Deputy CLP leader in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday demanded that the Telangana government ensure provision of the forms and the other material of the Intensive Household Survey in the Urdu language across the State.
Expressing concern over the non-printing of the survey forms in Urdu, Shabbir Ali said that it was highly condemnable that the government completely ignored the language in the proposed survey.
He criticised the government for ignoring the second official language of the State.
"It is highly painful that despite declaring Urdu as the second official language of Telangana, the State government has ignored it completely in its first ever official survey. This is gross injustice to the language, and corrective steps should be taken immediately," he said.
Since the survey was scheduled for August 19, there was ample time for the government to ensure that all forms and material for the Intensive Household Survey were also printed in Urdu, he stated. The government should also deploy Urdu-knowing enumerators in areas where the Urdu speaking population was high, he added.
The implementation of Urdu as the second official language in Telangana should not be customary but compulsory, and it should be done with total honesty, he demanded. (INN)
