IMD Issues Heat Wave Warning; Death Toll Touches 274
The IMD has issued a warning on Saturday stating that heat wave conditions would also prevail over some parts of Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours.

The IMD said that the trough from southeast Uttar Pradesh to north coastal Andhra Pradesh across Chhattisgarh and interior Odisha with cyclonic circulation over southeast Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood persists. The severe heat wave conditions prevailed in several districts on Saturday and the highest maximum temperature of 47.3 degrees Celsius was recorded at Rentachintala.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Commissioner said that the death toll due to sunstroke has touched 274 since April 1st. Adilabad and Karimnagar tops the list with 43 deaths each, followed by Prakhasam (40), Khammam (26), Warangal (20), East Godavari (18), West Godavari (16), Medak (12), Nizamabad (7), Anantapur (7), Srikakulam (7), Mahaboobnagar (6), Chittoor (6), Guntur (6), Kurnool (5), YSR Kadapa (4), Vizianagaram (4), Nalgonda (3) and Visakhapatnam (1).
The Commissioner said that advertisements regarding ?Do?s and Don?ts for Sunstrokes? were released in the newspapers in 2011, 2012 and this year also. (INN)
