The field staff of Indira Kranti Pathakam on Wednesday attempted to picket the Assembly under the aegis of Central Industrial Trade Union (CITU), pressing their demands.
However, the alert police foiled their attempts and took a few staff into their custody at MLA Quarters in Adarsh Nagar, and shifted them to a nearby police station.
Raising slogans against the state government, the field staff took out procession from Indira Park and demanded regularization of their services, and increase in their salary and other allowances.
They alleged that the government, which promised to increase salary from Rs. 500 to Rs. 3,500 during July 22 meeting, had failed to honour its commitment.
They charged that the government was planning to scrap the entire scheme due to financial implications, and remove the staff from the scheme.
The staff said that they had been working on a meagre salary of Rs. 500 since 12 years, and demanded that the government regularize their services considering their vast experience.
They said that the field staff would create awareness among Girijan beneficiaries on government schemes and facilities, and make them utilise the loan facility from the banks.
