In a bid to control the rising phenomenon of teenage rash driving, the Hyderabad city traffic police will start a special drive from Monday.
According to traffic police officials, the drive would target youngsters driving two-wheelers and four-wheelers, while being under the eligible age for obtaining driving licenses.
Officials said, "Recent serious accidents of cars and bikes due to such rash driving by youngsters have prompted us to take up this drive".
All such motorists will be stopped and documents checked. Major violations committed by youngsters like signal jumping, over speeding, rash driving, cell phone and ear phone driving, triple riding, drunken driving, multi-toned horns usage and wrong side driving will be penalized heavily.
Vehicles will be seized and will be released only after the driver and their parents appear for a traffic counselling and education class in the old traffic PCR. They also have to pay the challan amount which will not be less than Rs. 500 due to combination of violations.
This drive will also focus on control of night time racing and drunken driving by young two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers, where sterner like seizure of vehicles and registration of criminal cases will be adopted by traffic police.
