Monday's relaxed curfew in the old city posed no threat to its peace as business began earlier than usual, to make up for its lost time because of the evening curfew. Traffic reached its peak as offices opened, residents ventured out, and children went to school. Routine seemed to be slowly setting into the old city.
However, as a security measure, Section 144 CrPC is still being implemented during the day in the curfew inflicted areas.
After the initial unrest early last week, the situation in Hyderabad came under control as the old city was clamped under curfew since the evening of last Monday. Now that life is returning to normal, locals are demanding that the curfew be lifted completely.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police A K Khan continued to patrol in the city, and said a decision will be made on the lifting of curfew after further deliberation. He also claimed that approximately 206 cases against those involved in the riots have been registered till now, and that the investigation has picked up momentum.
