Curfew Lifted During The Day
Night curfew remains, however, and if the situation comes back to normal, the curfew will be lifted completely
Hyderabad | 5th April 2010
With Hyderabad finally proving to have reached its pre-existing peace, the Old City is gearing up for its usual hustle and bustle, as the city Commisioner of Police A K Khan declared that the curfew will be lifted in all zones during the day.
The curfew will be imposed all day except for 8am to 5pm from Monday. APSTRC buses will be allowed to run from 8am to 4pm. 350 buses from Midhani and Falaknuma depots, and 300 buses from other depots will be allowed to run on all routes. However, the night curfew will remain.
Reacting positively after the 3-hr relaxation in 25 police stations passed without any incident, he said that the situation will be reviewed on a regular basis, and once it is normal, the curfew will be lifted completely.
Khan personally made elaborate rounds of patrolling in the entire violence-hit regions of the old city on Sunday. When mediapersons decided to take a break and made a make-believe pitch right in front of the Charminar, Khan joined them in the play, swinging the willow amid loud cheers, saying that he hoped this represented the peace that is brought back into the city now.
So far, around 180 cases against those responsible from wreaking havoc in the city have been reportedly registered. 8 lakh of the flags - of all colours - that were said to have caused the stir in the first place, have been seized.
