IT and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao today said that the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) was getting ready for its launch on November 28.
He took a test ride of the HMR along with Governor E S L Narasimhan, Chief Secretary S P Singh, Metro Rail CMD N V S Reddy, Information Commissioner Navin Mittal and other officials on Wednesday, from S R Nagar to Miyapur.
After reaching the Miyapur Metro station, the Governor and the minister made rounds and took stock of the facilities. Reddy informed them about all the facilities.
Talking to reporters later, the minister said that the Metro Rail works would be completed by November 15. The state government had written a letter to the Prime Minister's Office requesting Narendra Modi to formally launch the Hyderabad Metro during his trip to Hyderabad to inaugurate and address the Global Entrepreneurship Conference 2017 on November 28. However, the PMO was yet to revert on the appeal, KTR stated.
The Prime Minister was however quite likely to launch the Metro Rail project the same day, the minister said. He expressed confidence that the PMO would respond in the affirmative to the state's appeal.
