Fake Cop Arrested For Fraud, Blackmailing
A man identified as Gautham Nair, who was posing as a police inspector from Khammam, was arrested by the Banjara Hills police today.

A man posing as a police inspector working in Khammam district was arrested by the Banjara Hills police today. The man, identified as Gautham Nair, who is a native of Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada, had reportedly blackmailed a doctor and had demanded that the doctor pay Rs 75 lakh to him.
The police had swung into action to apprehend Nair after the doctor lodged complaint against him for blackmail.
The swindler had threatened to reveal the victim's call records, and had demanded a whopping Rs 75 lakh promising that he would not release the recordings if the sum was paid.
Talking about the case, the police have revealed that the blackmailer had successfully scared the doctor who had agreed to pay Rs 20 lakh immediately. However, he was forced to approach the police as Nair continued to pressure him for more money.
Then, the police had laid a trap to apprehend the impostor.
It has been revealed that the accused has a long history of duping people by posing as a police officer. Reports say that he often uses the police's logo and mimics the mannerisms and body language of the police to intimidate innocent victims into paying him large sums of money.
