The Cyberabad police today arrested a notorious gang of fraudsters.
The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint lodged by a real estate professional who claimed that he got to know Pidugu Adinarayana Murthy, a gang member, through work-related networks.
Reports say that in his complaint, the complainant had stated that Murthy and his associates had approached him proposing to sell him some plots in Maheshwaram mandal's Golluru Village, in Rangareddy district, and had promised him that they would arrange the registration of the lands in his favour if he was interested and could pay for the same. Further, the gang had even presented to the real estate businessman ownership documents and pattedar passbooks.
Police officials speaking on the matter revealed, "After discussions, the two parties agreed that the lands would be sold at a rate of Rs 1,40,00,000 per acre, or a total of Rs 56,00,00,000. On seeing the sale agreement document, the complainant paid an advance amount of Rs 8,50,00,000 to M/s Jaya Dhasaradhi Projects LLP (Rs 6,49,60,000 through RTGS, Rs 1,30,00,000 through a cheque, and Rs 20,00,000 in cash) on June 6, 2019. An MOU was signed the next day. However, after paying this initial amount, the complainant was unable to get the sale deed executed and registered in his favour. Only after he repeatedly requested the gang for the documents did they send him a photocopied image of the registered sale deed on his mobile phone. The image showed that a sale deed had been executed in his name and that it had been duly registered. But they went on dodging the issue without giving him the original documents and cheated him."
Based on the individual's complaint, a case was registered under sections 467, 468, 471, 420 of the IPC at the Kukatpally police station, and an investigation was launched.
Subsequently, the probe was taken over by the Economic Offences Wing of the Cyberabad police. Following this, the accused were apprehended and arrested on June 17 and remanded to judicial custody. The main accused, Adinarayana Murthy, had previously been involved in two other criminal cases as well.
