ESI Medicine Purchase Scam Accused Sent To Jail

The ACB court on Friday remanded the kingpin (or queenpin in this case) in the ESI medicine purchase scam, Devika Rani, and six others to 14-day judicial remand.

The ACB officers filed a petition seeking custody of the accused to interrogate them in the case, and the court acquiesced.

The accused are:

Director of Hyderabad ESI Dr Devika Rani
Joint Director of Warangal ESI Dr K Padma
Assistant Director of stores at Hyderabad Dr Vasantha Indira
Grade 2 pharmacist of Shamshabad ESI dispensary Radhika
Representative of Hyderabad-based Omni Ch Siva Nagaraju
V Harshavardhan
K Srihari Babu alias Babji

The ACB has filed cases against all the accused under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The accused were taken to the Chanchalguda central prison after their remand.
