Alwal police nab a dacoit gang and recover Rs. 60 lakhs.
On Saturday, the Alwal police busted a 10-member gang of dacoits, and recovered stolen property worth Rs. 60 lakhs from their possession.
According to the police, the dacoity had taken place on February 25, 2013, in a house at Khanojiguda within the limits of the Alwal Police Station. Police sources have divulged that Dasari Anvesh (25), a resident of Gandhi Nagar, was working as a technical analyst in his maternal uncle's firm M/s Equators Financiers. During this period, one Ms. Jayanthi developed an acquaintance with him and lured him into lending her money on the promise that she could get gold for cheap rates. Evidently, she took the money but she neither arranged the gold nor did she return the money.
As such, Anvesh hatched a plan to rob money from her at any cost. He then approached K O Radhakrishna and together, they were waiting for an opportunity to gain some money. Meanwhile, Radhakrishna who was a close acquaintance of Jayanthi, was closely monitoring her movements andwas informing Avnesh.
The complainant Bachu Venkat Kumar (37), a realtor and resident of Jagdish Colony, came in contact with the said Jayanthi who lured him with the promise that she could arrange 5 kgs of gold at cheap rates.
Believing her story, the complainant and his friends agreed to purchase 5 kgs gold for Rs.1 crore and paid her an advance of Rs. 7 Lakhs.
On February 25, at about 6:00pm, Avnesh came to know that the dealing was going on at the house of one Satyanarayana Sastry at Khanojiguda in the Alwal P.S. limits. Jayanthi and others assembled at the house of Satyanarayana for the deal and the complainant brought Rs.1 crore for the deal. When the group was waiting for the person who was supposedly expected to come there with the gold, Avnesh adn Radhakrishna barged into the house and threatened the complainant and others at gun-point and robbed them of Rs. 1 crore.
Rs. 60 lakh, two vehicles which were purchased with the stolen money worth Rs. 1.5 lakh, a gun, some knives and three vehicles used in the commission of the offence by the accused have been seized.
Besides Avnesh and Radhakrishna, police have also arrested seven other people who accompanied these two, and have identified them as Pedda Pattolla Siddartha Reddy (38), Dattatreya alias Dattu (26), Pradeep Patil alias Rohith (38), Yogesh Singh (28), Ravi Singh alias Raju Singh, Vijender Singh (23) and Rajesh Singh alias Ganesh Singh (24).
One more accused, Kailash Singh, is yet to be apprehended, and some property is yet to be recovered. The case is under investigation for recovery of the remaining property. Those who were arrested by the police have been sent to judicial remand. (INN)
