A tense situation prevailed at the office of the Director General of Police at Lakdi-da-pul on Monday when aspirants for the posts of police constables attempted to storm the office demanding that the State government increase the upper age limit by two years.
When the police resisted the agitators, they squatted on the road and protested.
The protestors lamented that the State government had rendered injustice to them by giving the notification for the recruitment in 2022 instead of in 2020.
The upper age limit for the constable posts in the fire and jails departments had also been reduced from 35 to 30 years, they said.
They said that though they had met the ministers and the DGP in this regard, nothing had been done.
The protestors were taken into custody and shifted to the Goshamahal Police Grounds.
