The residents of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have generated extra garbage of 1,640 metric tonnes while celebrating the Deepavali festival.
According to the GHMC, the extra garbage was generated by activities like shopping, poojas and the bursting of crackers.
This is in addition to 4,250 metric tonnes of garbage that is generated every day in the GHMC limits.
The GHMCs cleaned the additional garbage this Deepavali by engaging 5 JCBs, 12 10-tonners, 64 dumper-placers and 26 6-tonners.
These additional vehicles were deployed in addition to the regular vehicle fleet. (INN)
