To mark another day of the Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav celebrations that are being organised for India's 75th year of Independence, a 3K run was conducted in Hyderabad today. It drew about 3,000 participants who covered the L B Stadium via Lumbini Park, BRKR Bhavan, and the Lakdi Ka Pul area.
Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and DGP M Mahender Reddy flagged off the run at the Necklace Road People's Plaza.
Speaking on the occasion, the CS said, "It is a matter of great pride for the Telangana government to be organising the Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav celebrations. We have planned many more events to mark 75 years of independence on a grand note."
"It is an important moment in the history of our nation as many of our forefathers sacrificed much for our independence. It is a privilege for us to be able to honour such great leaders and revolutionaries. We must pass on their patriotism to our youth as well," Kumar added.
The DGP also addressed the runners, and said, "We are celebrating the Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav to honour the heroes of the Indian freedom struggle. We hope to inspire the many capable youth who are successfully pursuing their dreams with the stories of our freedom fighters. I urge all the people of Telangana to participate in the events organised for the Mahotsav. After all, we all share the responsibility of honouring the great sacrifices of the leaders of the Indian freedom movement."
Many senior IAS, IPS and IFS officials, government employees, sports association members, sportspersons, students and youth took part in the run.
