Household Survey Begins Across Telangana

The ambitious Intensive Household Survey (IHS) began across 10 districts of Telangana on Tuesday.

In Hyderabad the survey began at 7am, while in other districts the Enumerators started visiting the households from 8am.

The survey will continue for 12 hours in all the districts, and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that it may be extended by a few more hours to cover all the households.

All roads in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad wear a deserted look - curfew-like scenes are prevailing on almost all major roads in areas like Charminar, Khairatabad, Himayathnagar, Lakdi-ka-Pul, Somajiguda, Begumpet, Koti and Maozam Jahi Market.

All RTC buses are off the roads, and private vehicles too are sparse. Petrol pumps, banks, educational and business establishments, and big and small firms are all closed.

Nearly 3.7 lakh personnel are collecting the data of nearly one crore families in the 10 districts of Telangana. In the GHMC limits, about 75,000 personnel are conducting a survey of nearly 20 lakh families. (INN)
